NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Colby-Sawyer College women's volleyball team concluded action at the Hawk Invitational on Saturday at the Hawk Center.

Host New Paltz jumped out early in the opening frame, breaking away from a 5-5 tie with a five-point run. The Chargers answered back to cut the deficit to 16-14, but the Hawks held off the rally to claim set one, 25-19. Junior Kamryn Brakemeier (Keller, Texas) and Sophomore Addison Sasnett (Virginia Beach, VA) paced the Chargers with 3 and 4 kills respectively.

Colby-Sawyer responded with resolve in a tightly contested second set. Neither side gave an inch, with New Paltz holding a late 22-21 lead. The Chargers delivered down the stretch, ripping off four of the final five points to steal the set, 25-23, and level the match at 1-1. Claire Rocky (Sherman, Conn.) and Liv Chandonnait (Belmont, N.H.) would add multiple kills this set to help the Chargers offense.

The third set proved to be another back-and-forth battle. Colby-Sawyer pulled within one at 18-17, but the Hawks mounted a late surge to close out the frame, 25-20. Barkemeier had another multi-kill set to continue to pace the Chargers.

Despite the Chargers strong offense test throughout the match, New Paltz would claim set four. Chandonnait and Brakemeier would have a multi-kill set to pace the Chargers in the fourth set.

Colby-Sawyer went toe-to-toe with Vassar in the opening frame, matching the Brewers swing-for-swing and registering 11 kills. Vassar managed to create late separation to secure a 25-21 win. Sasnett would pace the Chargers to open this match while recording four kills.

The Chargers turned up the offensive intensity in the second set, putting down 12 kills and hitting .160 while pushing Vassar to extra points. However, the Brewers edged out the final two rallies to take the set, 26-24. Chandonnait would record five of the Chargers 12 kills in the set, while Sasnett added another three.

Vassar would claim set three while five different Chargers would record a kill in the set.

Kamryn Brakemeier paced the Chargers offense against New Paltz with 10 kills, while adding five kills against Vassar.

Addison Sasnett had a productive day at the net, recording nine kills against New Paltz before leading the Chargers with eight kills and two blocks against the Brewers.

Liv Chandonnait provided consistent play on the outside, tallying six kills and 15 digs against New Paltz followed by eight kills and 13 digs against Vassar.

First-year setter Lucy Denu (Derry, N.H.) collected a pair of double-doubles on the day, posting 13 assists and 16 digs against the Hawks before dishing out 12 assists with a team-high 16 digs against Vassar.

Senior setter Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) distributed 12 assists against New Paltz and added 11 assists to go along with a match-high five service aces against Vassar.

Junior libero Madison Sinatro (Simsbury, Conn.) anchored the back line in the opener, tying Denu with a team-high 16 digs while adding two aces and five assists against New Paltz.

First-year Hayden Blanchard (Belmont, N.H.) turned away three blocks against the Hawks and added a solo stop against Vassar.
