NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer College field hockey team kept its unblemished record intact on Wednesday afternoon, shutting out in-state rival Plymouth State University, 1-0, in the 2026 home opener at Kelsey Field.

The opening 30 minutes proved to be a defensive battle dominated by the back lines. Colby-Sawyer generated seven first-quarter penalty corners to test the Panthers early, while sophomore goalkeeper Sophie Krauss (Essex, VT.) turned away eight first-half shots on target to keep the contest locked in a 0-0 stalemate heading into halftime.

The Chargers broke through midway through the third quarter. At the 36:41 mark, junior Brooke Farquhar (Gorham, Maine) set up senior Abby Olden (Belchertown, Mass.), who slotted home her first goal of the season to give Colby-Sawyer a 1-0 advantage.

Plymouth State turned up the offensive pressure over the final 23 minutes, racking up 16 second-half shots, but Krauss and the Charger defense stood firm against every Panthers push, turning aside 10 shots on frame in the second half to seal the clean sheet.

Olden provided the lone goal of the afternoon, converting her third-quarter chance into the game-winning goal.

Farquhar picked up her second assist of the season to run her team-leading points total to eight on the year.

Krauss turned in a masterclass performance between the pipes, making a career-high 17 saves across the full 60 minutes to record her first shutout of the season and improve to 3-0. Mikayla Thornton (Lebanon, N.H.) would pick up a defensive save during the game to keep the Panthers out of net.
