New London, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer College field hockey team remained undefeated on the season Saturday afternoon, holding off in-state rival Keene State College for a 3-2 home victory at Sally Shaw Veitch field.

Colby-Sawyer wasted no time setting the pace, grabbing the lead just 5:42 into the contest. Sophomore Jillian Fredette (Weare, N.H.) slipped a pass to Junior Brooke Farquhar (Gorham, Maine), who buried the chance to put the Chargers ahead 1-0.

Keene State answered before the end of the opening period when Henley Gilstrap broke through to knot the score at 1-1 at the 9:59 mark.

The Chargers regained the lead midway through the second frame on another crisp passing sequence. Sophomore Lily Goerlich (Amherst, N.H.) and Jillian Fredette combined to set up Farquhar, who finished her second goal of the afternoon at 22:08 to make it 2-1.

The Owls countered less than two minutes later as Lilah Carr slotted home an equalizer at 23:42 to bring Keene State even once again.

Colby-Sawyer seized momentum right before the intermission. With just 20 seconds remaining in the half, senior Abby Olden ripped a shot off a penalty corner tucked home the go ahead goal at 29:40 to send the Chargers into the break with a 3-2 advantage.

Both defenses locked down throughout the second half. The Chargers turned away every bid down the stretch to close out the 3-2 victory.

With the win, the Chargers improve to 4-0 on the season, continuing their best start since the 2023 season.

Farquhar powered the offense with her second multi-goal game of the season, netting two to bring her season total to five goals.

Olden registered her second goal of the year, which stood as the game-winner.

Jillian Fredette collected a multi-assist performance, setting up both of Farquhar's scores, while Goerlich earned her first assist of the season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sophie Krauss turned in another stellar performance in net, turning away six shots to record her fourth win of the campaign.
