New London, NH – The Chargers took on Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Wednesday at Sally Shaw Veitch Field. This was a match of two teams undefeated in conference play, facing off in a back-and-forth contest.

Within the first minute of the game, Ella Highbarger scored off a Celia Melanson assist to put the Monks up 1-0. The Chargers responded about two minutes later with a goal from first year Grace Joly (Windham, ME). Elena Bronson (Monkton, VT) assisted Joly on the goal. Joly scored roughly 90 seconds later from a free position shot to give the Chargers a 2-1 lead. Ella Highbarger tied the game back up for the Monks with a goal about 90 seconds later. With 6:35 to go in the quarter, Sophia Burton assisted the go-ahead goal for the Monks which was assisted by Kiley Webber.

Four minutes into the second quarter, Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, NH) assisted Lauren Vignola (Ringwood, NJ) to make it a 3-3 ball game. Highbarger and Zoey Lailer each scored a goal for the Monks to put the visitors up 5-3. However, the game continued to be a nailbiter as the Chargers scored two more before the end of the half. Rose Finlayson (Hopkinton, NH) scored the fourth Charger goal (assisted by Bronson), and Madeline Knight (Pownal, ME) (assisted by Bronson) scored with 14 seconds to go in the half. Both teams were tied at five goals apiece at the halftime mark.

Highbarger scored for the Monks in the first two minutes of the third quarter. Five minutes into the quarter, Reese Holcomb (Essex Junction, VT) tied the game up 6-6. About a minute later, Joly scored to give the Chargers a 7-6 lead. Taylor Dumond scored for Saint Joseph's College of Maine with 4:13 left in the quarter. The game was tied 7-7 with one quarter left to play.

Burton, Dumond, and Highbarger all scored for the Monks in the fourth quarter. Addison Glavin (Andover, MA) made three saves for the Chargers in the fourth quarter. The Monks won the game 10-7.

Brooke Farquhar (Gorham, ME) recorded four ground balls, and Luci Walden (Bellingham, MA) recorded three caused turnovers. Glavin made 12 saves for the Chargers.

The Chargers will travel to West Hartford, Connecticut for a Saturday afternoon matchup with the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.).
