WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CELEBRATES 2026 SENIORS TO CAP THE SEASON

New London, NH – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team concluded their season on Saturday against Albertus Magnus at the Hogan Sports Center. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Threes from Tanner Drury (Bethel, VT) and Makenna Grillone (Walpole, NH) gave the Chargers an early 6-4 lead. Drury added another three, followed by a layup from Lauren MacDonald (Tilton, NH). MacDonald would add three, as the Chargers trailed 16-14. In the last two minutes of the quarter, Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, NH) scored a jumper and Drury made another three. Both teams were at 19 at the end of the first quarter. 

  • MacDonald and Catherine Chick (Glen, NH) both scored layups in the second quarter. Grillone and MacDonald scored layups to put the Chargers up 30-27. MacDonald scored a three and a layup. Emily Leonard (Chester, NH) made a three to put the Chargers up 39-30 going into the halftime break. 

  • MacDonald and Mitchell made buckets to start off the second half. Mitchell and Chick both added baskets to put the Chargers up 48-44. Mitchell scored another layup. MacDonald made a jumper, and soon thereafter Drury drained another three. The Chargers led 55-53 with one quarter left in the game. 

  • Mitchell made two layups early in the fourth quarter. Drury made another three. Mitchell and MacDonald each made a jumper. Taylor Fellows (Croydon, NH) made a shot from three-point range to put the Chargers up by one with 2:08 to go in the game. Albertus Magnus won the game 72-69. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • MacDonald led the scoring for the Chargers with 22 points. 

  • Mitchell recorded a double-double (16 points and 12 rebounds). Mitchell ends her career with 695 rebounds, which puts her at 10th all-time in career rebounds at Colby-Sawyer. 

  • Drury ended the game on 15 points. 

  • Ariellys Velez led the scoring for the Falcons with 24 points. 

  • The Chargers scored 30 points in the paint. 

  • Mitchell, Kaylee Manzella (Littleton, NH), and Team Manager Declan Lister were honored for Senior Day before the start of the game.
