FIELD HOCKEY EXTENDS BEST PROGRAM START TO 8-1

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer College field hockey team produced its highest-scoring performance of the 2026 season on Wednesday evening, rolling to a 6-3 non-conference victory over Framingham State University under the lights at Sally Shaw Veitch Track & Field.

Rapid Recap:

  • Colby-Sawyer set the tone early in the opening quarter. Just 5:33 into the contest, sophomore Jillian Fredette (Weare, N.H.) slipped a pass to junior Brooke Farquhar (Gorham, Maine), who finished to give the Chargers a 1-0 advantage.

  • The Chargers expanded their lead early in the second frame when sophomore Lily Goerlich (Amherst, N.H.) found senior Kylie Walden (Bellingham, Mass.), who netted her second goal of the season at 18:20 to make it 2-0.

  • Framingham State trimmed the deficit in half at 21:52 on an unassisted strike by Sydney Walters, but the Chargers answered before the break. Farquhar turned distributor at 27:45, feeding sophomore Luci Walden (Bellingham, Mass.) for a finish to send Colby-Sawyer into halftime leading 3-1.

  • The Chargers broke the game open in the third quarter with back-to-back unassisted tallies. Fredette buried a shot at 36:33 before Goerlich found the back of the cage at 39:41 to push the margin to 5-1.

  • The Rams got a goal back late in the third from Chloe Moynihan, but Colby-Sawyer restored its four-goal cushion at 50:38 when Fredette linked up with Farquhar for her second goal of the night.

  • Moynihan added a late tally for Framingham State with under two minutes remaining, but the Chargers' defense closed out the 6-3 decision.
