Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

FIVE CHARGERS SCORE IN DOUBLE FIGURES IN TWENTY-SEVEN POINT WIN

New London, NH – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team took on the Lyons of Mount Holyoke College on Wednesday afternoon at the Hogan Sports Center. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Lauren MacDonald (Tilton, NH) made two threes early in the first quarter to get the Chargers off to a quick start, leading 6-4. Taylor Fellows (Croydon, NH) and Emily Leonard (Chester, NH) would join the scoring as both would hit a three to make it 16-13 for the Chargers. MacDonald would make a layup off a fast break. The two teams would be even at 18 after the first quarter. 

  • The Chargers scored two threes coming from Tanner Drury (Bethel, VT) and MacDonald, and Catherine Chick (Glen, NH) made a layup, as the Chargers went on an 8-0 run at the beginning of the second quarter. A Leonard three and a layup by Fellows put the Chargers up 31-19. A little more than a minute later, Delaney Raymond (Lyndon, VT) drained a three. A Mitchell layup and a Drury three would help the Chargers to a 39-23 lead going into the half. 

  • Mitchell and Makenna Grillone (Walpole, NH) each made two buckets to start the third quarter. Drury made a layup halfway through the quarter to put the Chargers up 49-29. Three layups by Fellows would help the Chargers to a 57-34 lead with one quarter remaining. 

  • Aryanna Sheehan (Charlton, MA) and Leonard each made layups to start off the fourth quarter. Raymond drained her second three of the game. Mitchell and Leonard both made layups. With 38 seconds to go, Fellows made a three as the Chargers won 75-48.   

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Fellows scored a career-high 16 points on Wednesday. 

  • MacDonald ended the game with 11 points and eight rebounds. 

  • Leonard ended the game with 10 points and eight rebounds. 

  • Taryn White had 11 points and nine rebounds for Mount Holyoke College. 

  • The Chargers shot 50% from three-point range. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers will start GNAC action on Saturday when they travel to Boston, Massachusetts to play Emmanuel at 3pm.
