Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO EMMANUEL TO OPEN UP CONFERENCE PLAY

Boston, MA – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball played Emmanuel College in their first GNAC conference game of the 2025-2026 season. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Lauren MacDonald (Tilton, NH) layup kicked things off for the Chargers in the first 30 seconds of the game. Makenna Grillone (Walpole, NH) hit a three-pointer about two minutes later. The Saints then went on a 10-0 run. However, the Chargers stayed strong as Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, NH) made a layup. MacDonald scored a three with less than a minute left in the quarter. The Saints led 24-13 after the first quarter. 

  • Grillone and Mitchell both scored layups early in the second quarter. Emily Leonard (Chester, NH) drained a three with less than three minutes to go in the quarter. The Saints led 44-21 at the halftime break. 

  • MacDonald and Catherine Chick (Glen, NH) each hit jumpers early in the third quarter. MacDonald and Grillone would both score layups right before the halfway mark of the third quarter. The Saints would keep the lead going into the fourth quarter. 

  • Mitchell scored a layup in the beginning of the fourth quarter. Leonard scored her second three of the game. Less than a minute later, Delaney Raymond (Lyndon, VT) scored from beyond the arc. Grillone made a layup with 6:10 left in the game. Mitchell scored another layup. With less than two minutes to go in the game, Aryanna Sheehan (Charlton, MA) had two separate trips to the free-throw line where Sheehan went 4-4. Tanner Drury (Bethel, VT) converted two free throws with less than a minute to go, and in the last seconds of the game Mitchell scored a layup. The Saints won the game 79-53. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Mitchell ended the game with 11 points and seven rebounds. 

  • Grillone scored 11 points and recorded three rebounds on Saturday. 

  • MacDonald ended the day with 11 points and four rebounds. 

  • Geanna Bryant led the scoring for the Saints with 13 points. 

  • The Chargers scored nine fast break points.

The Chargers will next face Dean College at the Hogan Sports Center on Saturday at 1pm.
