Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

CHARGERS HOLD THEIR OWN AGAINST TOP NATION TEAMS

BALTIMORE, M.D. - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team continued their weekend in Baltimore for the Johns Hopkins Tournament where the Chargers would have back to back games against Hardin-Simmons University from Texas, and hosts Johns Hopkins.

Game 1 Rapid Recap:
  • The first set against Hardin-Simmons saw an 8-4 start with the Cowgirls taking an early lead. The Chargers would get back to back kills from Brenna Piller (Simsbury, Conn.) and Kamryn Brakemeier (Fort Worth, Texas) to bring the game to 9-6. The Cowgirls would jump out to an even bigger lead after a run that would make a Chargers comeback very hard. Hardin-Simmons would commit a couple attacking errors that would lead to some Chargers points to close the gap. The Chargers would get another kill from Sophomore Brooke Tasker (Wolfeboro, N.H.) during their last string of points.
  • The second set would see the Cowgirls jump to a 12-3 lead while the Chargers would attempt to make a push towards Hardin-Simmons after a slow start. Tasker, Piller, and Brakemeier would all get a kill to lead the Charge towards closing the second set gap. Hardin-Simmons early jump in the second set ended up being too much for the Chargers to get back into as they would drop the second set.
  • The Chargers would keep close to start the third set as they only trailed 11-7. A pair of kills from Brakemeier and a service ace and kill from First Year Addison Sasnett (Virginia Beach, V.A.) would keep ther Chargers in reach of the third set. Although the Cowgirls increased their lead in the back end of the set, Piller and Sasnett would fire a couple kills in, with a Madison Sinatro (Simsbury, Conn.) service ace to end the set to finish strong.
