CHARGERS FALL IN SEASON OPENER TO KEENE ST.

KEENE, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer women's field hockey team opened their season on the road against the Keene State Owls where they would fall in a tough battle, 2-1.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Owls would open up the scoring for the game pretty quickly with a goal by Grace Brazin assisted by Lilah Carr two minutes and thirty seconds into the game. Goalkeeper Ashlee Blashock (Lebanon, N.H.) would go on to save a shot just taken a minute later to keep the Owls at 1. The Chargers would make a push to try and tie the game as they would force three penalty corners to give them a chance. The third penalty corner would lead to a shot from Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, N.H.) that would saved by the Owls keeper.
  • It would be all Chargers in the second quarter as the Owls did not record a shot or penalty corner throughout all 15 minutes. The Chargers would tie the game at one just two minutes into the quarter on a pass from Brooke Farquhar (Gorham, Maine) that found Jillian Fredette (Weare, N.H.) for her first collegiate goal. Fredette would take another shot just over a minute later that was saved by the Owls goalkeeper. The Chargers were granted another penalty corner at 21:41 that would keep the offense rolling. Farquhar would take the Chargers third shot of the quarter that was saved again by the goalkeeper. Abby Olden (Belchertown, Mass.) would try to put the Chargers ahead to end the half, but missed wide right.
  • Both teams would be held scoreless in the third quarter, as both the Owls and Chargers would battle to take the lead. Fredette would take a shot just a minute into the quarter before the Owls would rip three shots with each one being stopped by Blashock. The Chargers would follow up with five shots themselves with four of them coming around 40 seconds from each other.
  • The Owls would be the ones to take the lead at the 50:04 mark on Bizan's second goal of the game. Blashock would keep the game close as she recorded 3 saves at the end of the quarter
Inside the Numbers:
  • Fredette would be the lone scorer for the Chargers, which would be her first collegiate goal. Brooke Farquhar would pick up her first assist of the 2025 season after being last year's team leader.
  • Ashlee Blashock would play all 60 minutes in net while recording 11 saves, which would tie her career high from last year against New England College.
