CHARGERS LOSE CLOSE BATTLE AGAINST ROGER WILLIAMS

Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team hosted their second straight Conference of New England match Saturday afternoon against Roger Williams Unviersity. 

Rapid Recap:
  • Roger Williams would sweep through doubles play winning all three match-ups to take the first point of the match. Sky Jara (South Hamilton, Mass.) and Avery Nielson (Thornhill, Ontario) would force a tie break in second doubles. 
  • Payton Dugan (Vincennes, Ind.), Isabella Gutierrez Avendaño (Tegucigalpa, Honduras), and Sky Jara would take home three points for the Chargers in singles action. Dugan would win number one singles, 6-0, 6-1 to secure the first Chargers point. Gutierrez Avendaño would lock in the Chargers second point in number two singles, 6-2, 6-4. Jara would give the Chargers a 3-1 lead in 6-0, 6-4 sets in number three singles. 
  • Roger Williams would storm back to tie the match at 3-3 in number four and number six singles. Callie Valeri (New London, N.H.) would have a battle a number six singles as she would go for three full sets. Avery Nielson would have a battle at number five singles, looking to give the Chargers the win drawing a three set match. The third set would go to a tiebreak, where Roger Williams would nab the final point of the match.

The Chargers return the the court on Wednesday, September 24th as they will host another CNE opponent in University of New England at 3:30PM.
