CHARGERS IMPROVE TO 2-0 IN CONFERENCE PLAY

New London, N.H. – The Chargers field hockey team remains undefeated in conference play after winning 3-1 against the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Saturday. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Brooke Farquhar (Gorham, Maine) got things started for the Chargers scoring the first goal of the game with about 4 minutes left in the first quarter, with the assist coming from Taylor Gaudette (North Conway, N.H.). 

  • Farquhar put the Chargers up by 2 early in the second quarter from an assist by Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, N.H.) and Sophia McAdams (Derry, N.H.). 

  • With less than a quarter to play, Kylie Walden (Bellingham, Mass.) scored to make the game 3-0 in the Chargers favor. Walden's goal was assisted by Jillian Fredette (Weare, N.H.) and Luci Walden (Bellingham, Mass.). 

  • About 2 minutes later, Aurelia Barker scored for the Blue Jays off a Kaitlin Trudeau assist to make the score 3-1. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Ashlee Blashock (Lebanon, N.H.) made 12 saves for the Chargers in their conference win. 

  • McAdams got her first collegiate assist on Saturday, which led to the Chargers second goal of the game. 

  • Farquhar's 2 goals puts her season tally up to 4, and gives her a total of 13 points so far. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers travel to Newton, Massachusetts on Wednesday to face conference opponents Lasell University for a 5pm start.
