Franklin, MA – The Colby-Sawyer field hockey team won their first GNAC conference match of the season on Saturday away at Dean College, by a score of 4-1. 

Rapid Recap: 

• 54 seconds into the game captain Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, N.H.) put the Chargers up 1-0, which would be Ponzini's second goal of the season and 15th of her career. 

• Less than 3 minutes later Jillian Fredette (Weare, N.H.) would score off Ava Bennett's (Hampstead, N.H.) first assist of the season. 

• The lone goal of the second quarter would come from Brooke Farquhar, (Gorham, ME) that goal being Farquhar's first of the year. 

• In the third quarter Dean would score one, putting the game at a 3-1 scoreline. Sydnee Ramos scored that goal for the Bulldogs off an assist from Emily Kilpatrick. 

• In the fourth quarter, the Chargers would score their 4th of the game and this one would be Fredette's second of the day. Fredette's goal was assisted by Farquhar. 

Inside the Numbers: 

• The Chargers outshot the Bulldogs 22-9, with shots coming from 8 different Chargers. 

• Goalkeeper Ashlee Blashock (Lebanon, N.H.) made 3 saves on Saturday, putting her season total at 34 up to this point.

The next game for the Chargers is this Wednesday at home at 4pm against Vermont State Castleton, in a non-conference match-up.
