NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer Fall sports teams are in full swing and the Great Northeast Athletic Conference has given their first weekly awards after week one that saw two Chargers on that list with three other Chargers being named to the weekly honor roll.
Gabriela Calidonio (Flagler Beach, Fla.) would receive Goalkeeper of the Week honors after her career weekend for the Chargers. Calidonio would kick off her weekend with a 13 save performance on 22 shots, while only allowing one goal. Gabriela was making save after save on tough shots from the Owls of Westfield. Calidonio would go on to play just the first half on Saturday against Husson but would still make 5 saves to bring her weekend total to 18. She would finish the weekend with a 1.98 goals against average and an 86 save percentage that would honor her with Goalkeeper of the Week.Â
Adriana Nadeau (Londonderry, N.H.) would receive Runner of the Week honors after a dominant performance in the season opener hosted by Colby-Sawyer. The lone home meet for the Chargers saw Nadeau get out in front of the pack full of fellow GNAC competitors and did not look back. Adriana would lead the whole race as she finished with the gold, while being the only runner in the field to run a sub 20 minute 5k. This would become her new cross country personal best as the official time was 19:55.Â
Honor Roll Mentions:
- Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) would be named to the weekly honor roll for women's volleyball as she had a career weekend as the main setter for the Chargers. Bacon would tally 44 total assists in tough match-ups against New Jersey City University and John Jay during the Bloodhounds opening weekend.
- Jacklyn Anderson (Hanover, N.H.) would be the second rookie across the line at the Charger invitational, helping the Chargers win the 7th annual Charger Invite pushing for a 6th place overall finish. Anderson ran a 20:52 to mark her first ever collegiate and cross country race ever which was good enough to make honor roll.
- Evan Vitagliano (Groton, Conn.) would have a strong debut for the Chargers during the Charger Invitational. Vitagliano would go on to be in the front pack early right when the race set off and push the pace for a 4th overall place finish. Evan would cross the line in a 16:51.3 which already establishes him in the top 10 for fastest 5k times.Â
