NEW LONDON, N.H. - Colby-Sawyer Head Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Pape Lukk just got a little lighter for the summer—and not just in spirit.
This past month, Coach Lukk donated his hair for the third time to a nonprofit supporting individuals experiencing medical hair loss. What started as a personal challenge in graduate school has since become a meaningful act of service and a reflection of the values he brings to his coaching philosophy.
"For me, it's always been about servant leadership—doing what you can with what you have to help others," Lukk shared. "This is just one small way I can make an impact. I don't have a lot of extra resources, but I do have time, commitment, and—every few years—a head of hair someone else might need more than I do."
The tradition, now years in the making, ties directly into the culture he's building at Colby-Sawyer: one grounded in humility, selflessness, and community.
"It's not about the haircut," Lukk said with a laugh. "It's about the idea that giving doesn't have to be big or loud to be meaningful. Whether it's your time, your effort, or even your hair—it all matters."
As Colby-Sawyer Lacrosse gears up for its inaugural season in Spring 2026, Lukk's actions off the field continue to set the tone for the kind of program he's leading—one that values character just as much as competition.
With a fresh summer cut and a full heart, Coach Lukk remains focused on developing great players—and even better people.
