Orlando, Fla. – The Charger women's tennis team split contests on Thursday as they fell to the Trinity College (Conn.) Bantams 6-1 and cruised past the Western Connecticut State University Wolves 7-0.
Rapid Recap Game 1:
- The Bantams swept all three doubles positions to claim the opening point. The duo of sophomore Payton Dugan (Vincennes, Ind.) and first-year Avery Nielsen (Thornhill, Ontario) had the closest battle at number two doubles, falling 6-4.
- In singles action, the Chargers continued to battle, but the Bantams swept five out of the six singles positions to claim the 6-1 win over the Chargers. Sophomore Maria Espinosa Lopez (Merida, Mexico) picked up the lone point for the Chargers winning defeating Kendall Cedar 3-6, 7-5, 10-8.
Rapid Recap Game 2:
- The Chargers opened doubles action sweeping all three positions to claim the opening point. The duo of sophomore Payton Dugan (Vincennes, Ind.) and first-year Avery Nielsen (Thornhill, Ontario) picked up the biggest victory in doubles action cruising past the Wolves 6-1.
- The Chargers continued to dominate in singles action sweeping all six positions. First-year Skylar Jara (South Hamilton, Mass.) picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at number two singles while senior Mei Genest (Keene, N.H.) picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at number four singles.
