CHARGERS FALL TO FIFTEENTH RANKED AMHERST

Amherst, MA – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team played #15 Amherst College on Wednesday evening. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • The Mammoths got off to an 11-0 start to the game. But the Chargers remained resilient as Lauren MacDonald (Tilton, NH) and Catherine Chick (Glen, NH) made layups for Colby-Sawyer. The Mammoths would lead after the first quarter. 

  • MacDonald drained a three early in the second quarter. About a minute later, Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, NH) and MacDonald would each make a layup. Chick would also make a layup. Emily Leonard (Chester, NH) made a three with 48 seconds left in the half. Amherst would lead 49-20 going into the break. 

  • Emma Greenan (Saint Johnsbury, VT) scored a layup to get the first Charger points of the half. Delaney Raymond (Lyndon, VT) knocked down a three off an assist from Leonard. Mitchell would score a layup a minute later. In the last two minutes of the quarter, Taylor Fellows (Croydon, NH) scored a three and a layup. The Mammoths would lead after the third quarter. 

  • MacDonald and Fellows each scored layups for the Chargers in the fourth quarter. Fellows assisted MacDonald for a three as well. About a minute later, Fellows would knock down a three. Amherst would go on to win the game 78-42. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • MacDonald led the Chargers in scoring with 12 points. MacDonald recorded five rebounds on the day. 

  • Fellows scored 11 points, going 2-3 from three-point range. 

  • Mitchell led the Chargers in rebounds, getting seven on the day. 

  • Za'Nyah Bernard led the Mammoths in scoring with 16 points. 

  • The Chargers shot 35.3% from three-point range. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers will return to action in 2026, when they face off against Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts on January 3 at 12pm.
