Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

CHARGERS SPLIT TRI-MATCH AT HOME

New London, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team split games at their tri-match on Saturday, as they took on Rivier and Massachusetts Maritime Academy. 

Game 1 Rapid Recap: 

  • The Chargers started off the first set building to a 10-8 lead. Addison Sasnett (Virginia Beach, VA) recorded two kills in the remainder of the set, as the Raiders went on to win Set #1. 

  • A strong start to the second set saw the Chargers lead 10-5. Sasnett recorded three more kills, and Kamryn Brakemeier (Fort Worth, Texas) recorded two kills as the Chargers went on to win the second set 25-17. 

  • The third set saw the two teams even at 4. The Raiders would get an 8-6 lead before Sasnett got another point for the Chargers with a kill. Sasnett and Brenna Piller (Simsbury, Conn.) would each record another kill in the set as the Raiders won the third set. 

  • The raiders took a 2-1 lead in the fourth set. Jules LaRock (Austin, Texas) and Claire Rocky (Sherman, Conn.) would each record a kill and Brakemeier would record two kills in the remainder of the set. The Raiders went on to win the fourth set. 

Game 1 Inside the Numbers: 

  • Sasnett led the Chargers in kills by recording 9 in the match. 

  • Brakemeier led the Chargers in two categories, getting two aces and two blocks. 

Game 2 Rapid Recap: 

  • The Chargers built an 8-2 lead in the first set against the Buccaneers. Sasnett would record 4 kills to help the Chargers get the lead to 16-11. Once the lead was 20-17 for the Chargers, a Brakemeier ace, and kills by Larock and Rocky helped the Chargers take the first set 25-23. 

  • The Chargers' momentum carried into the second set as the Chargers took an early 16-8 lead. Rocky, Piller, Brakemeier, and Sasnett would all record at least one kill as the Chargers won the second set 25-17. 

  • The Chargers started off the third set working their way to a 9-8 lead. The Buccaneers would take a 16-11 lead moments later. However, kills by Brooke Tasker (Wolfeboro, N.H.), Cassidy Ladd, Piller, and three kills from Brakemeier helped the Chargers take a 22-17 lead. The Chargers carried that momentum into winning the set 25-19. 

Game 2 Inside the Numbers: 

  • Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) recorded 30 assists for the Chargers. 

  • Brakemeier led the team in kills (17) and blocks (3). 

  • Sasnett recorded her season best of 20 digs against the Buccaneers. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers take the court next on Saturday, as they travel to Newton, Massachusetts to play Lasell at 12pm.
