FOUR CHARGERS SCORE IN 9-1 WIN OVER BEAVERS

New London, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer field hockey team won their non-conference match against UMaine Farmington 9-1 on Saturday at Sally Shaw Veitch Field. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Brooke Farquhar (Gorham, Maine) scored two goals in the first 7 minutes for the Chargers. Abby Olden (Belchertown, Mass.) assisted the first goal and Kylie Walden (Bellingham, Mass.) assisted the second. 

  • After the assist, Walden scored the third Charger goal 11 minutes into the game. 

  • Gabby Vincentsen scored one for the Beavers in the first quarter, making it a 3-1 game. 

  • Farquhar scored another goal in the second quarter, making it a 4-1 ball game. 

  • Farquhar scored her 4th and 5th goals of the game (program record for single-game goals and points) in the third quarter. First Year Jillian Fredette (Weare, N.H.) assisted Farquhar on both goals. 

  • Zoe Dries (Windham, Maine) scored two goals in the fourth quarter. Farquhar assisted the first one and Grey McDonald (Manchester, N.H.) assisted the second one. 

  • Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, N.H.) scored the last goal of the game for the Chargers with 4 minutes to go in the game. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Farquhar broke the program single-game goal record for goals, after scoring 5 on the day. The previous record stood at 4 goals, which she held. 

  • Farquhar broke a second record on Saturday, by scoring 11 points. That breaks the previous record of 8 single-game points (a record she also held). 

  • Addy Araneo (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) made 5 saves for the Chargers.

The next game for the Chargers is Wednesday as they travel to Chicopee, Massachusetts to play Elms at 7pm.
