NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team concluded the regular season splitting results in their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match featuring Lasell University and Elms College. The Chargers conclude the regular season with an overall record of 20-11 and an 8-7 GNAC record.
Rapid Recap (Match 1):
- The Chargers came ready to fight Saturday morning and took a quick 8-2 lead over the visiting Lasers. The Lasers continued to battle and cut the lead to 11-6. Senior Ally Majenski (Marshfield, Mass.) would give the Chargers a 13-9 lead with a kill, before the Lasers responded and took a 17-13 lead. Senior Katie Mollberg (Naples, Fla.) would keep the Chargers alive in the first set with a kill of her own, but the Lasers pulled away and took the first set 25-15.
- The Chargers jumped out to a 10-5 lead over the Lasers int he second set with kills from senior Brooke Patnode (Weare, N.H.), first-year Kamryn Brakemeier (Fort Worth, Texas), and Majenski. The Lasers continued to chip away at the Chargers lead and tied the second set up at 15-15. The two teams traded points back and forth late in the set, before the Lasers pulled away from the Chargers and took the second set 25-19.
- The Lasers took a commanding 13-2 lead over the Chargers in the third set. The Chargers capitalized on attacking errors by Lasell and continued to stay alive, trailing 20-5. Senior Audra Fontes (Fresno, Calif.) started the momentum for the Chargers with a service ace and a kill while Brakemeier would also chip in a kill to keep the Chargers in the third set as they trailed the Lasers 22-15. The Lasers would take the third set 25-16 and swept the Chargers 3-0.
Inside the Numbers:
- Patnode led the way for the Chargers with 14 assists and seven digs, while sophomore Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) added six assists and five digs.
- Mollberg tallied seven kills and two digs for the Chargers while Brakemeier chipped in six kills and one dig.
- Fontes recorded two service aces and five digs.

- The Chargers jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead over the Blazers as first-year Madison Sinatro (Simsbury, Conn.) added two services aces to give the Chargers the lead. Senior Katie Mollberg (Naples, Fla.) would chip in back-to-back kills for the Chargers, and senior Audra Fontes (Fresno, Calif.) added a service ace to extend the Chargers lead to 13-2. The Chargers continued to dominate on the attack with kills by first-year Kamryn Brakemeier (Fort Worth, Texas) and sophomore Brenna Piller (Simsbury, Conn.), while first-year Judy Mancilla (Purcellville, Va.) would extend the lead to 23-4. Seniors Brooke Patnode (Weare, N.H.) and Ally Majenski (Marshfield, Mass.) would end the first set with a kill each as the Chargers took the set 25-5.
- The Blazers continued to fight in the second set, tying the set early 3-3 before the Chargers would pull away and extend their lead to 10-3 as sophomore Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) put away two service aces for the Chargers. The Blazers took advantage of Chargers' errors and cut the lead to 10-6, but kills by Brakemier, Bacon, and Majenski would allow the home team to take an 11-point lead. Elms College continued to cut the home team's lead with kills of their own as they trailed the Chargers 23-19 late in the second set. First-year Leah Barlow (Bourne, Mass.) and Mancilla would each add a kill of their own to extend the Chargers lead as they took the second set victory 25-19.
- The Blazers dominated the third set taking a commanding 10-3 lead over the Chargers with service aces and kills. Piller and Majenski would respond to the Blazers lead, adding kills of their own and while a service ace by Sinatro got the Chargers within five points of the Blazers. The Blazers continued to capitalize on errors made by the Chargers and continued to dominate on the attack as they led 20-15 late in the third set. The Chargers continued to chip away at the Blazers lead as Majenski put back-to-back kills away and gave the home team a quick 4-0 run. Kills by Brakemeier and Mancilla were fueled by Majenski's kills as the Chargers trailed the Blazers 22-20. Brakemeier was able to tie the set at 22-22 with a kill and Piller gave the Chargers the 23-22 lead with a kill, but the Blazers were able to put the ball to the floor and take the third set 26-24.
- The Chargers responded to the Blazers third set victory and went on a 16-1 run in the fourth set. Barlow, Brakemeier, and Mollberg would all kills of their own to spark the run for the Chargers. The Blazers were able to get on the board and cut the Chargers lead to 18-5. Patnode sparked another run for the Chargers late in fourth set with a kill followed by back-to-back kills by Brakemeier and Majenski to give the Chargers a 24-7 lead. The Blazers were able to stay alive and get another point on the board, but the Chargers were able to pull away and take the fourth set 25-8 and taking the match 3-1.
Inside the Numbers:
- Fontes tallied 15 digs and seven service aces in the Chargers win while Patnode recorded 27 assists, 13 digs, and two kills.
- Majenski led the way for the Chargers with 12 kills while Brakemeier added 10 kills and four digs.
- Piller added eight kills and seven assists while Sinatro tallied three service aces and four digs.
Up Next:
The Chargers return to action Monday as they host Dean College in the GNAC Play-In round for a spot in the quarterfinal round of playoffs. The match is set to start at 7:00 PM.
