NEW LONDON, NH - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team hands Rivier their first conference loss, 5-1 as Bridget O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) becomes the new all time leading goal scorer and points leader for a career.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Chargers were looking to find a way to put the ball in the back of the net as they took on the Raiders of Rivier who were undefeated in the conference. The Chargers got some opportunities early as they opened up the game with 4 straight corner kicks followed by a couple shots to really apply early pressure.
  • The Chargers broke through the tie with a goal by Bridget O'Connell off assists by Sam Bishop (Windham, NH) and Halle Pletzer (Barre, VT.) to open up the flood gates for scoring from the Chargers.
  • Minutes into the second half, O'Connell found Sam Bishop to make it 2-0 in favor of the Chargers. O'Connell was then fouled in the box to set up a Chargers penalty kick that O'Connell took and put into the bottom right corner for a 3-0 lead and made her the all time leading goal scorer with 45 career goals.
  • Three minutes later, Pletzer found O'Connell again who scored her third goal of the game to put the Chargers up 4-0 while the Raiders were able to put a goal on the board in the 80th minute.
  • O'Connell found her fourth goal of the day on another assist from Bishop for her second assist of the day and to give the Chargers a 5-1 win to knockoff the Raiders in this conference match up.
