CHARGERS BLOWOUT AMCATS ON SENIOR DAY

NEW LONDON, NH - The Colby-Sawyer women's field hockey team celebrated their seniors Saturday afternoon as they took on the Anna Maria Amcats in a conference matchup taking home a blowout win, 8-1.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Chargers celebrated the amazing careers of Carly Bernard, Destiny CruzSabrina Lippold, Courtney Larson, and Alyssa Slocum as they all got the start against the Amcats.
  • It only took 37 seconds into the game for senior Sabrina Lippold (Windham, N.H.) to score the first goal of the game on an assist from Aili Carney (Derry, N.H.) to kick off senior day and give the Chargers an early lead. That goal would be followed up by Carney right before the end of the first quarter with a goal herself from first year, Ava Bennett (Hampstead, N.H.) to give the Chargers a 2-0 lead.
  • First Year Brooke Farquhar (Gorham, Maine) went on to string together the Chargers next 4 goals with her first two just coming within nine seconds of each other. Each goal had their own assist too from Abby Olden (Belchertown, Mass.), Aubrey Fischer (Weare, N.H.), Ashley Pelletier (Bridgton, Maine), and Kylie Walden (Bellingham, Mass.). Between Farquhar's four goals, the Amcats were able to find their lone goal of the game to get on the board.
  • The Chargers ended the game scoring two more goals to make this an 8-1 contest with goals from Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, N.H.) and Aubrey Fischer.
Inside the Numbers:
  • Farquhar's four goal performance officially tied her for most goals in a single game dating back to 2022 where teammate Taylor Gaudette did it against Maine-Farmington.
  • Carly Bernard gets her 19th career win which puts her just 2 away from making her tied for third all time in wins.
Post Game Press:
"Today was a beautiful day to play field hockey!" Said goalkeeper Carly Bernard. "I think every senior felt the legacy living on and off the field flowing through them. I couldn't be more grateful to feel the love from so many wonderful people. We have a lot of work to do to get where we want to head and I can't wait to see where our trust gets us."

Up Next:
The Chargers will have a quick turnaround as they take on University of Maine-Farmington in a non-conference matchup tomorrow at 1pm.
