CHARGERS SAIL PAST THE BUCCANEERS 3-0

NEW LONDON, NH - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team sailed past the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Buccaneers Thursday night in a non conference match-up, 3-0. (25-20, 25-18, 26-24).

Rapid Recap:
  • The Chargers took set one pretty handly as they never gave up a lead to the Buccaneers and cruising to the first set point capitalizing on nine different attacking errors for the Buccaneers and multiple kills, and aces from the Chargers, Ally Majenski (Marshfield, Mass.), Brenna Piller (Simsbury, Conn.), Kamryn Brakemeier (Fort Worth, Texas), and Katie Mollberg (Naples, Fla.) while Madison Sinatro (Simsbury, Conn.) recorded some aces.
  • Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) went on a string on service aces for the Chargers in set 2, not letting up the pressure on the Buccaneers as they took an early lead. Bacon led all servers with four aces total in the 3 sets while Brooke patnode continued setting up her teammates to put the stamp on the second set.
  • The Chargers faced some adversity in set 3, as the Buccaneers took an early lead and the Chargers had to fight from behind the whole 3rd set until they finally tied the game at 18. Patnode set up Brakemeier for the kill, and proceeded to knock down Brakemeier out of excitement as the Chargers dug out of the hole. Majenski finished the set getting 4 kills in 5 points for the Chargers on assists from Patnode to give the Chargers the match.
Inside the Numbers: 
  • Brooke Patnode totaled 31 assists in this three set contest, surpassing 400 assists on the year and bringing her career total to 1,865 as she inches closer to the 2,000 assist mark with 15 games to play.
  • Majenski finished with 13 kills in this three set contest, bringing her total to 620 on the year. With 15 games left, she is just 94 away from her career high set last year as a Junior.
  • Audra Fontes (Fresno, Calif.) continues to be a force on the defensive side of the ball recording 16 digs in this three set contest bringing her total to 260 and her career total to 1361 moving her to 6th all time in digs.
