Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

CHARGERS AND BLUE JAYS CLASH IN 0-0 DRAW

WEST HARTFORD, CONN. - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team traveled to West Hartford, Connecticut Saturday afternoon and came to a 0-0 draw with the Blue Jays.
 
Rapid Recap:  
  • The Chargers brought the offensive intensity in West Hartford, Connecticut Saturday afternoon as senior Bridget O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) and junior Lauren McKee (Littleton, N.H.) fired shots of their own, but could not find the back of the net. The Chargers continued to stay on the attack as senior Hannah Himes (Williston, Vt.), graduate student Sam Bishop (Windham, N.H.) and sophomore Lena Rodrigues (Belmont, N.H.) each fired a shot of their own, but Blue Jay goalkeeper Madison Corcoran made saves for the home team to keep the score at 0-0. The Blue Jays would fire a shot of their own late in the first half, but junior Charger goalkeeper Gabriela Calidonio (Flager Beach, Fla.) stayed strong in the net as the game remained scoreless at the half.
  • The Chargers continued to stay on the attack in the second half as first-year Kate Vasconcelos (Woodsville, N.H.), Bishop, and O'Connell each fired a shot on target, but Corcoran made big saves for the Blue Jays to keep the game tied at 0-0. The Blue Jays went on the attack late in the second half firing shots of their own, but Calidonio made key saves for the Chargers. O'Connell and Bishop continued to fire shots on target late in the second half to give the visitors the lead but were unable to find the back of the net at the game ended at a 0-0 draw. 
 
 
Inside The Numbers:  
  • The Chargers outshot the Blue Jays 21-3.
  • Calidonio played the full 90 minutes for the Chargers and recorded two saves in the net.  
 
Up Next:   
The Chargers return to action on Tuesday as they host the Bulldogs of Dean College with a 3:30 PM start.
