CHARGERS COMPLETE THE FOUR PEAT AS WOMEN'S TENNIS IS CROWNED GNAC CHAMPIONS

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Chargers women's tennis team picked up their fourth consecutive conference championship Saturday afternoon defeating the University of Saint Joseph's (Conn.) 5-0.

Rapid Recap: 
  • The Chargers swept the doubles, taking a 3-0 lead over the Blue Jays. Sophomore Maria Espinosa Lopez (Merida, Mexico) and senior Isabella Gutierrez (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) picked up a convincing 8-1 victory at number two doubles.
  • Gutierrez picked up the fourth point for the Chargers at number four singles winning 6-0, 6-1 while sophomore Payton Dugan (Vincennes, Ind.) would clinch the 5-0 victory for the Chargers at number one singles winning 6-0, 6-3.
  • The all-tournament team consisted of three Chargers, senior Elise Hogan (Duxbury, Mass.), Gutierrez, and Dugan, while Gutierrez also took home tournament MVP.


Up Next: 
This concludes the fall 2024 campaign for the Chargers as they will return to action in the spring of 2025. The Chargers have also punched their ticket to the NCAA tournament which will be held in May 2025.
