NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer women's field hockey team hosted Dean college as part of the schools homecoming and alumni weekend as they took down the Bulldogs 5-0.
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers were eager to face the Bulldogs at home on Saturday as the team came out strong from the first whistle. Dean had possession for the first thirty seconds which they capitalized on with a strong drive to goal with a great stop from Charger's defense. The Charger's dictated the momentum of the remainder of the quarter and by the ninth minute Cecilia Ponzini (Windham N.H.) found the back of the net for the first Charger goal of the game. Â
- Heading into the second quarter the Chargers were on a roll and buried another goal by Brooke Farquhar (Gorham, Maine) off an assist from Alyssa Slocum (Windsor, Vermont) within the first two minutes. Closing out the first half the Chargers kept their foot on the gas pedal as they fired three different shots from Farquhar and Slocum, forcing Dean's goalkeeper to come up with big stops. Â
- Opening into the second half, Colby-Sawyer's rising dynamic duo does it again. A great feed from Slocum to Farquhar resulted in the Charger's third goal of the day two and a half minutes in. The Chargers would wrap up the game with two more goals by Courtney Larson (Auburn, ME.) and Abby Olden (Belchertown, Mass.) to bring home the 5-0 win.
