PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team lost its second Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match of the year on Saturday night falling to Johnson & Wales by a 4-0 final.
Rapid Recap:
- The Wildcats launched four shots in the first six minutes but graduate student Alexis LeBreton (Bangor, Maine) made all four saves to keep it at 0-0. Senior Sam Bishop (Windham, N.H.) had the lone Charger opportunity in the 17th minute but the shot was saved by Leah Bragaw. The teams continued to battle with Johnson & Wales firing off three more shots that were saved by LeBreton.
- In the second half the Wildcats jumped ahead 1-0 in the 46th minute as Angelina Oliveira finished a free kick by Emily DeRoehn to give the home team the lead. In the 64th minute Kylie Schmidt doubled the lead on a find by Ava Wilder. In the 70th minute Madison Sanborn added the third goal of the day beating first year Lyndsey Valletta (Macedon, N.Y.). The lead finally reached 4-0 in the 73rd minute as Katie Gallagher scored straight off a corner to clinch the win.
Inside the Numbers:
- Bishop had the only two shots in the match for the Chargers with one on target.
- LeBreton made seven saves in the first 68 minutes only allowing two goals, while Valletta made a single save in 21 minutes.
- The Chargers were out shot by a 21-2 margin with a 12-1 on target differential.
