Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Chargers Lose to Saint Michael's College 3-0

COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team took on NCAA Division II Saint Michael's College on Sunday falling by a 3-0 final in Vermont. 

Rapid Recap: 
  • The Purple Knights launched three shots in the first 15 minutes but graduate student Alexis LeBreton (Bangor, Maine) made all three saves to keep it at 0-0. First year Ellie Smith (Plymouth, Mass.) had the first Charger opportunity but hooked the shot left. Senior Sam Bishop (Windham, N.H.) had another chance in the 19th minute, but Addy Cook made the stop. After three more saves the Purple Knights finally jumped ahead as Faith Kosiba finished a through ball by Anna Pedreschi and Bridget Shaw to give the home team the advantage. Saint Michael's continued to attack, but they could not get past LeBreton who kept the score at 1-0 headed into the second half.
  • In the second half senior Kara Keiper (Peterborough, N.H.) had the first opportunity taking a shot that was saved by Cook. Junior Bridget O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) had another chance in the 63rd minute but was turned away. In the 74th minute the Purple Knights doubled the lead as Casey Havrda finished a goal from Bella DelVecchio. The third goal came in the 86th minute to put the game away as DelVecchio finished a strike from Claire Williams and Pedreschi. 
Inside the Numbers:
  • Keiper, O'Connell and Bishop had the only four shots on target for the Chargers. 
  • LeBreton made 12 saves in the first 78 minutes while just allowing two scores. First year Lyndsey Valletta (Macedon, N.Y.) made a single save in relief conceding the final goal. 
  • The Chargers were out shot by a 28-7 margin and a 16-4 on target differential.

The Chargers will host Regis College on Wednesday with a 3:30 PM start in New London.
