Women's Soccer Continues Scoring Streak Against Dean 4-2

FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team continued its dominant offensive tear Wednesday with a 4-2 win over the Dean Bulldogs.

Rapid Recap:
  • The opponents would strike first and early in the Wednesday afternoon game with a goal form Nina Medeiros off of a cross from Lea Bettencourt to score her second goal of the 2023 season. Three mintutes later Medeiros would strike again bringing the Bulldogs to an early 2-0 advantage nine minutes into the match. This would ignite 11 shots from the Chargers, with five on target. These shots would be highlighted with a penalty kick from junior Bridgett O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) which would be saved by the Bulldogs keeper. This shift in momentum would lead to a goal from senior midfielder Sam Bishop (Windham, N.H.) who would make her own opportunity in the midfield. 30 seconds later O'Connell would apply more pressure firing a shot on target which would be saved by the keeper. The Chargers scoring spree would continue only six minutes after, with a goal from senior Kara Keiper (Peterborough, N.H.) evening the score at 2-2 with ten minutes left in the half. Five minutes later the leading scorer of the squad, O'Connell, would join the goal list with a chip shot over the keeper to bring the Chargers back on top 3-2.
  • The Chargers would continue their dominance right out of the gate of halftime with four quick shots from the team. Six minutes into the half the Chargers would find their final goal from Keiper, her second of the match. While this was the end of the scoring the offense did not let up. A handful of on target shots would be fired from Keiper, Bishop and O'Connell to be saved by the keeper. First year Ellie Smith (Plymouth, Mass.) would take an open look in the latter part of the half, but was met by the Bulldogs keeper. The Bulldogs would see their first offensive opportunity of the half at the 81st minute mark, with an on target shot from Jazzy Sztyler-Magee but was saved by first year keeper Rylee Suchenicz (South Hadley, Mass.) The Chargers would end the match with two late shots from O'Connell and sophomore Lauren McKee (Littleton, N.H.).
Post-Game Press:
"I am super proud of this team for picking up the intensity after the first two early goals and finding a way to put four in the back of the net." Senior Kara Keiper (Peterborough, N.H.) said, "Historically, we have struggled with coming back in games so this was huge for us!"
