Chargers Home Advantage Continues in 1-1 Draw Against Mount Holyoke

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team continued its home no-loss streak with a tie against Mount Holyoke 1-1.

Rapid Recap:
  • Junior Bridget O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) applied pressure early to the visiting defense, getting behind the back line to score her tenth goal of the season off of a cross from sophomore Lauren McKee (Littleton, N.H.) and quick touch from first year Ellie Smith (Plymouth, Mass.). The Lyons would look to respond with a shot from Jane Harmon, which would be saved by first year Lyndsey Valletta (Macedon, N.Y.). O'Connell would attempt to bring the lead to 2-0 with a fast break shot but would be saved by the Lyons keeper, Clarissa Govea. The Chargers would continue their dominant first half with four more shots, with one on target from junior Kara Keiper (Peterborough, N.H.).
  • The Lyons would come out of halftime on the attack, scoring in the first eight minutes off of a cross from Yousuf Dena to Hannah Ellis. Keiper would take this goal personal and look to strike back with a quick attack and shot off of a corner, to be saved by Govea. The two teams would continue to push pace back and forth firing shots at the two keepers, Govea and graduate student Alexis LeBreton (Bangor, Maine.) both making key saves. The Lyons would end the match with one last shot from Charlotte Moynihan which was just off the mark.
