McKee's First Collegiate Goal Lifts Chargers Past Plymouth State University

NEW LONDON, N.H. – Sophomore Lauren McKee (Littleton, N.H.) had her welcome to Colby-Sawyer moment on Saturday scoring her first collegiate goal in the 33rd minute to lift the Chargers past inner-state opponent Plymouth State by a 2-1 final.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Chargers had great pressure in the opening 15 minutes getting the first four shots of the contest, but each couldn't find the target. Junior Bridget O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) got the offense rolling in the 30th minute getting a beautiful through ball by senior Kara Keiper (Peterborough, N.H.) and depositing it in the top shelf to ring the goal horn at Kelsey Soccer Field. Just three minutes late McKee found her moment depositing a pass from junior Sophia Kuhlthau (Cheshire, Conn.) with her left foot to beat the keeper and double the lead. Plymouth State had a loan opportunity at the 36:27 mark but the shot went high to keep the lead at 2-0 heading into the break.
  • The Chargers kicked off the second half with a close chance as senior Sam Bishop (Windham, N.H.) just missed a free kick out on the top left in the 49th minute. Other chances by graduate student Hannah Marquis (Weare, N.H.) and fire year Paige Barnes (Buxton, Maine) were both stopped well by Sydney Rowe the Panthers keeper. Graduate student Alexis LeBreton (Bangor, Maine) made a key stop in the 76th minute, but after a foul by Keiper in the box the Panthers got on the board with a penalty goal by Kaliana Palhof. K. Palhof had one final shot, but it went off the post in the 87th minute as the Chargers held on by a 2-1 final.
Post-Game Press:
"It feels really good to score my first collegiate goal", said sophomore Lauren McKee (Littleton, N.H.). "I am really happy to be here and at this school. This was a really important win to gain confidence as well head into the GNAC games."
