PAXTON, Mass. – The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team split results in their Tri-match Friday sweeping Anna Maria 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-20) and falling to Simmons 0-3 (19-25, 15-25, 9-25).
Rapid Recap (Anna Maria):
- The Chargers begin the first set on a high note seeing an immediate kill from junior Ally Majenski (Marshfield, Mass.). First year Delaney Skourtis (Tilton, N.H.) would follow with two kills of her own, before junior Brooke Patnode (Weare, N.H.) would register her own kill putting the Chargers up 8-4. A kill from the AMCATS would attempt to slow momentum, but Majenski would continue her performance notching two more kills. The Chargers would continue their pace in the set with a service ace from Patnode and kill from Majenski ending the set in the visitors favor.
- The second set would begin with an exchange of points between the two teams bringing the score to an even 6-6. Patnode and Majenski would break the tie each registering kills to put the Chargers on top 9-6. The AMCATS would gain some ground with a kill from Shae Savoie but Skourtis would register another kill to turn the tide back in the Charger way. Junior Audra Fontes (Fresno, Calif.) would add her name to the kill sheet brinigning the Chargers up 19-15 late in the set. Skourtis would seal the win for the Chargers with two late kills of her own.
- The home team would look to defend their court in the third set jumping to an early 5-3 lead, but Patnode would tag another kill to switch the momentum. Senior Abby Williams (Brentwood, N.H.) would join the stat sheet tabbing a kill of her own to allow the Chargers to take a 9-8 lead. The Chargers would continue to build up their lead highlighted by a first year Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) service ace. Skourtis and Majenski would finalize the Charger victory each registering one last kill a piece.
Inside the Numbers:
- Majenski led the way for the Chargers registering 16 kills and seven digs.
- Patnode, Williams, and Bacon each registered two aces each. Patnode also registered one block, and 17 assists.
- Fontes led the the defense with 12 digs.
Rapid Recap (Simmons):
- The Sharks would begin the first set in a dominant manner taking a quick 10-4 lead over the Chargers. Junior Ally Majenski (Marshfield, Mass.) would stop the run with a kill putting the score at 13-9. First year Ari Cuevas (Somersworth, N.H.) would get on the board notching a kill to bring the score to 15-11 in favor of the Sharks. First year Delaney Skourtis (Tilton, N.H.) would also take her turn registering a kill immediately following. The Sharks would not take their foot of the gas though, quickly jumping to a 22-14 lead. Another Majenski kill would lead a late run attempt, but the Sharks would end the set with a kill of their own.
- The Sharks would continue their dominance in the second set racking up an early lead 13-1. First year Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) would notch back to back service aces to try to change momentum, but the Sharks responded with a kill of their own. Cuevas and junior Brooke Patnode (Weare, N.H.) took their turns tabbing kills but the Sharks would go on to a 25-15 victory.
- The third set quickly turned in the Sharks favor taking a 15-3 lead. A pair of errors from the Sharks would allow the Chargers to bring the score to 19-8. The Sharks would rank in the kills to finalize their victory.
Inside the Numbers:
- Cuevas led the offense with five kills, followed closely by Skourtis registering four kills.
- Patnode would register six assists along side six digs.
- Fontes led the way defensively with seven digs, one ace and two assists.

The Chargers will host Plymouth State on Tuesday November 2 with a 6:00 start.
