NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's swimming and diving team had a triumphant Senior Day after defeating Regis College and Simmons University on Saturday during a dual Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) meet. The Chargers prevailed over the Pride with a final score of 140-99 as well as the Sharks by a close 118-116 final score.
Before the meet started, the Chargers honored the program's five seniors:
Nina Boudreau (Hallowell, Maine),
Alyssa Brown (Douglas, Mass.),
Cecilia LaFlamme (Hatfield, Mass.),
Quinn Manion (Wesminster, Mass.), and
Mary Steward (Saco, Maine).
Rapid Recap:
- Steward had a successful day after securing two first place finishes in the 50-yard and 100-yard breaststroke events. She was also a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay along with Boudreau, Brown and graduate student Kelsey Brown (Douglas, Mass.) finishing in first with a time of 1:48.04.
- Boudreau earned second place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.78 and the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 29.80.
- Brown ended the meet strong with first place finishes in both the 50-yard butterfly and the 100-yard butterfly.
- LaFlamme was the top finisher for the Chargers in the 1,000-yard freestyle clocking in at 14:08.97 to secure third place.
- In the 200-yard freestyle, first year Brandy Lewis (Strafford, Vt.) finished with a time of 2:14.91 good for first place. Lewis also earned third place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:01.95.
- First year Erin McLean (Newton, Mass.) came in third place for Colby-Sawyer in the 50-yard backstroke and the 100-yard backstroke.
Swimmer Spotlight:
"As a senior, this meet was bittersweet," said Steward. "There was so much team spirit and love from those on deck and in the stands. Taking a double win for our Senior Day was icing on the cake as we get pumped up for GNAC's! I could not have asked for a better send off."
