NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer Chargers dropped their first contest of the year in a 2-1 loss to Keene State College on Wednesday.

- The Chargers got on the board first as senior Aoife Daly (Harwich, N.H.) added her third goal of the season on a feed from first year Taylor Gaudette (North Conway, N.H.) in the fifth minute. The Owls responded firing the next three shots, but senior Lauren Wilkinson (Lynn, Mass.) turned them away. Colby-Sawyer and Keene State traded opportunities, but the no other goals would be scored in the first half.
- The Owls got on the board to kickoff the second half as Maggie Cahoon finished home the penalty corner she started beating Wilkinson high. The Chargers followed up with a good chance, but Daly's shot was denied by Clara Gorman. The fourth quarter began with both teams being tied at 1-1, before a crucial green card gave the Owls a player advantage. Keene State took advantage drawing three-straight penalty corners before getting a penalty stroke opportunity which was finished by Molly Murray to give the Owls the lead. The Chargers would get one final shot, but it was saved by Gorman to end the game.

- Daly added the lone goal, while Gaudette added her first collegiate assist.
- Wilkinson picks up the loss with seven saves for the Chargers.
- Keene State out shot the Chargers by a 15-13 margin while also putting 10 on target compared to four from Colby-Sawyer.

The Chargers will open Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday traveling to West Hartford, Conn. to play against the University of Saint Joseph.
