Chargers Sweep Weekend After 3-2 Victory Over Thomas College of Maine

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Colby-Sawyer Chargers field hockey team picked up their six win of the season on Sunday defeating Thomas College of Maine by a 3-2 final. The win gives the Chargers their fifth-straight win.

Rapid Recap:
  • Colby-Sawyer jumped in front in the 8th minute as senior Jordan Pollard (Newbury, N.H.) left a ball for junior Aleah Murph (Portland, Maine) to fire into the back of the cage off of a penalty corner. With the 1-0 lead the Chargers continued to battle the Terriers in the second quarter before finally hitting the back of the cage again. Junior Sarah Babb (South Yarmouth, Mass.) tapped in the score off a feed from sophomore Sabrina Lippold (Windham, N.H.). Thomas would try to get on the board late with a penalty corner, but the Charger defense stayed strong not allowing a shot before the half ended.
  • In the third quarter the Chargers grew the lead again as senior Calie Sorenson (Sandwich, Mass.) finished home her fourth goal of the week on a pass from sophomore Courtney Larson (Auburn, Maine). The Terriers tried to respond quickly, but senior Lauren Wilkinson (Lynn, Mass.) stepped up for her first save of the day. Thomas stayed aggressive launching four more shots in the quarter with the final shot finding the cage for the goal. In the fourth quarter the Chargers continued to stay strong defensively only allowing three shots. The Terriers got their second goal with just 15 seconds left on the clock as Colby-Sawyer pulled off the road win.
