NEW LONDON, N.H. - Colby-Sawyer Athletics has launched a new alumni spotlight series called "Chargers Call Back". This series will showcase and highlight some of the Chargers alumni that are making an impact post-graduation and will be released every Friday in the month of July.
Kris Ramsay - Baseball
What year did you graduate from Colby-Sawyer and what was your major?
I graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies.
What is your current profession?
I am currently work in Real Estate and Property Management.
What was your favorite Colby-Sawyer memory on and off the playing surface?
On the field, without a doubt one of my favorite memories was hitting a walk off home run against Curry in 2006 to take both wins of a doubleheader. It was one of the coldest days I'd ever played baseball and at that time they were what we considered our greatest rivals within the conference.
Off the field, where do I begin. Every day at school was enjoyable. However, one very memorable day was what I believe was the first snow day in CSC history. It was a Valentine's Day blizzard, in which it snowed 3+ feet of snow overnight. It was like having a second Mountain Day. Not a student on campus wasn't soaking it up. Oh, and it fell on a Friday!
What was your Colby-Sawyer experience like?
I fell in love the moment I visited campus in fall of 2003. I loved the town, community, and overall vibe of the school. I loved the fact that you could safely and comfortable roam the campus, and you knew just about every student and teacher. There wasn't a single time I didn't feel welcome, and all the staff from the Administration down was supportive and would go out of their way to ensure you had the support you needed to be successful.
What would you tell future or current Chargers?
Make the best of all 4 years, as it will fly by before you know it! Get involved in as many groups and activities as you can and explore all that the surrounding community has to offer. It's a special place to go to school and live, and that's something I took for granted and didn't fully appreciate until I had graduated.
Ellen Naughton - Women's Basketball
What year did you graduate from Colby-Sawyer and what was your major?
I graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training.
What is your current profession(s)?
I am currently a Registered Nurse at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
What was your favorite Colby-Sawyer memory on and off the playing surface?
My favorite memory on the court was winning two CCC Women's Basketball championships and playing in two NCAA tournaments. Off the court, I am reminded of the meaningful relationships I developed. The smaller classroom size was the catalyst in strengthening the relationships with my professors and classmates. I never felt like "a number" and because of this, I was able to successfully push through challenging times.
What was your Colby-Sawyer experience like?
My Colby-Sawyer experience was a memorable one. Being a student-athlete, I was able to play a sport I love so much at the collegiate level while still being able to pursue a profession in sports medicine. For me, the Colby-Sawyer experience did not end at graduation. I continue to stay invested in the Women's Basketball program and look forward to reunions with former teammates at alumni events.
What would you tell future or current Chargers?
I would remind current and future students that the college experience will go by in a flash. There will never be another time in your life where you can enjoy the social scene college provides while working towards your professional goals. Take advantage of every opportunity and make sure you take the time to have fun.
