Chargers Fall to Johnson & Wales 6-0

NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team fell to Johnson & Wales University 6-0 on Wednesday afternoon.  

Rapid Recap: 
  • The Chargers were able to keep the Wildcats offensive at bay as senior goalkeeper Alexis LeBreton (Bangor, Maine) made six saves in the opening 20 minutes respectively of the first half. Kylie Schmidtstruck first for the Wildcats in the 24th minute to give Johnson & Wales the 1-0 advantage. About 10 minutes later, Trina Capezza squeezed the ball past LeBreton to extend the Wildcats led 2-0 heading into halftime 
  • In the second half, the Wildcats continued to put pressure on the Chargers backline. Angelina Oliveira tallied a goal in the 56th minute off an assist from Emily DeRoehn to put the Wildcats up 3-0. Jordan Restivo scored shortly after to further Johnson & Wales led 4-0. The Wildcats would eventually jump the lead to 6-0 on goals by Caroline Wallace and Angelina Carrion.
  • In the final minutes of the match, sophomore Bridget O'Connell had one of the best opportunities to get the Chargers on the board, but Shannon Stockero was able to deny O'Connell and keep the clean sheet. 
Stats & Figures:
  • O'Connell led the team with five shots getting two on target. Junior Kara Keiper (Peterborough, N.H.) and sophomore Sam Bishop (Windham, N.H.) each had a pair of shots in the match. 
  • LeBreton allowed six goals but recorded 16 saves against the Wildcats, the most saves in a match so far this season for the veteran goalkeeper. The 16 save performance marks the 5th most saves in a single game in program history, which was last accomplished on October 26, 2018 by Oona Bond against Johnson & Wales University.
  • The Chargers were outshot by the Wildcats 26-9 with a 22-5 margin in shots on goal.
