Chargers Sweep Lions 9-0

Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team continued their winning streak after sweeping Eastern Nazarene College 9-0 on Monday afternoon. The Chargers improve their overall record to 6-2 on the season. 

Rapid Recap:
  • The Chargers got the early 3-0 advantage after the doubles round. First doubles featuring sophomore Grace Carpenter (Milford, N.H.) and senior Emily Hill (Wilmington, Mass.) secured their win with an 8-1 final. Second doubles featuring Alyssa Owens (Grain Valley, MO.) and sophomore Elise Hogan (Duxbury, Mass.) as well as third doubles featuring sophomore Isabella Gutierrez (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) and sophomore Lily Tria (Westerly, R.I.) all dominated in their doubles matches. 
  • Sophomore Amelia Campanella (Chepachet, R.I.) triumphed in her singles match with a 6-2, 6-1 final. The Chargers preserve their winning streak with the 9-0 victory over the Lions.

"We all had high spirits coming into today's match," said Hill. "We just wanted to have fun and get business done."
 
In preparation for the Chargers next match Emily said, "Regis is currently our toughest competitor in the conference. We are hyped for that match and we're going to get ready in our next couple practices. I have faith in my team to take care of business, I know it is going to be tough, but we are a strong team this year."

The Chargers will be on the road for their next Great Northeast Athletic Conference match against Regis College on Friday, October 7th at 5:00 PM.
