Chargers Fall to Lasell University 4-0 to End Season

NEWTON, Mass. - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team loss in the quarterfinals of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament against Lasell University 4-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers finish the season with an overall record of 7-10-4 and a conference record of 5-5-3. 

Rapid Recap: 
  • The Lasers put pressure early on the Chargers backline earning a couple corner kicks in the opening five minutes. Sarah Lynch played the ball to Serena Speight who found the back of the net to give Lasell the 1-0 advantage. In the 33rd minute, Speight notched her second goal of the match to put the Lasers up 2-0 heading into halftime.
  • In the second half, Camdyn LaMarre scored the third goal for Lasell in the 50th minute. Shortly after, Lynch tallied a goal off the assist from Bobbi O'Guin to extend the Lasers lead to 4-0. Sophomore Bridget O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) got a shot on target that the Lasers goalkeeper Kyli Swann was able to save. Senior Alexis LeBreton (Bangor, Maine) made five saves as the second half came to a close to keep the Lasers off the scoreboard and end with a 4-0 final. 
Stats & Figures:
  • O'Connell got the only shot on target for the Chargers after recording three shots. Senior Thea Alberti (Wilmington, Mass.) made one shot after playing the full ninety minutes.
  • LeBreton finished the afternoon with eight saves. 
  • The Chargers were out shot by the Lasers 21-5 with a 12-1 differential in shots on goal.
