New London, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer Swimming and Diving team hosted their last home meet of the 2021-22 season on Saturday, January 15
th against the Cadets of Norwich University. The team honored their three graduating seniors –
Lauren Berry (Dracut, Mass.),
Kelsey Brown (Douglas, Mass.), and
Maddie Craig (Salem, N.H.).
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers fell short of two points in this intensely competitive Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) meet against Norwich University.
- The senior, K. Brown went 3 for 3 on her individual events for the last time in the Knight Natatorium with victories coming in the 100 Breast (1:03.26), the 200 Back (2:16.85), and the 100 Fly (1:00.93). Brown also collected a win in the 400 Medley Relay along with fellow teammates juniors Mary Steward (Saco, Maine), Nina Boudreau (Hallowell, Maine), and sister Alyssa Brown (Douglas Mass.).
- Boudreau and Steward chimed in on the fun with individual victories of their own as Boudreau won the 200 Fly with a finishing time of 2:37.44 and Steward winning the 200 IM with a completion time of 2:31.16.
- The team of juniors Boudreau and A. Brown, along with first-years Hannah McAloon (Berkley, Mass.) and Lily Stinchfield (Sanbornville, N.H.) came out victorious in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a finishing time of 1:51.67.
NEW PR'S!
- Stinchfield had an incredible meet as she recorded three new personal records. On November 6th, 2021, the rookie posted a 1:12.12 final time in the 100 backstroke. Today, she beat her record by .18 of a second with a finishing time of 1:11.94. Her second new personal record was in the 200 back as she beat her previous record set on November 12th, 2021, of 2:38.39 with a finishing time of 2:37.47. Lastly, the first year had a 3.3% improvement in the 50 free with a new PR of 29.12 defeating her previous pr of 30.12 set on November 19th, 2021.
- Junior Quinn Manion set a new PR in the 1000 free as she swam over six seconds faster than she did in her previously set PR of 14:10.83 on November 19th, 2021.
- McAloon had her fastest start of the 400 medley relay with a time of 37.19.
- Last but certainly not least, senior Maddie Craig had the most impressive personal record performance of her career, swimming almost 15 seconds faster than her previously set record of 3:08.06 in the 200 IM, this time finishing with a final time of 2:53.22.

"While it was sad to not have spectators in the stands for our final home meet of the season, the ladies did a great job bringing the energy and celebrating our seniors" said head coach
Helaina Sacco. "Grateful for the opportunity to coach Lauren, Maddie, and Kelsey these past two seasons. Looking forward to the GNAC championship meet in three weeks. These ladies have put the money in the bank" exclaimed Sacco.
UP NEXT:
The Colby-Sawyer swim team will travel to Wellesley, Massachusetts to compete in the GNAC Championship with a 3-1 conference record. The tournament is set to start on Friday, February 4
th and is expected to go until Sunday, February 6
th.
