NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer College Athletics Department is excited to announce on Wednesday Andy Locke as the next men's and women's head alpine ski coach for the Chargers.
Locke arrives to Colby-Sawyer after 11 years with Pats Peak Ski Club in New Hampshire, the last 6 as program director. He is a US Ski & Snowboard Level 300 Alpine Coach as well as a Level 100 Coach Developer. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from St. Lawrence University and a master's in regional planning from the University of Montana. As a youth, Locke competed for Waterville Valley Academy in New Hampshire.
"We are extremely excited to announce Andy as the next leader of our alpine ski program," said Capelle. "He is someone who can recruit and develop high quality student-athletes and will bring the knowledge and energy to continue the great traditions of our alpine program. We look forward to his immediate impact on the program, our department and the College community."
During his time at Pat's Peak, Locke helped drive the club's significant growth and consistently placed athletes into divisional and regional championships. Prior to Pat's Peak, Locke taught skiing and coached in Sun Valley and was a business executive in the geospatial data industry. His unique combination of business and athletic experience is well suited to guiding Colby-Sawyer's student athletes toward their athletic and academic goals.
"I am thrilled to be joining Colby-Sawyer, said Locke. With multiple high-quality training facilities less than 30 minutes from campus, an administration dedicated to the student-athlete and an incredibly strong sense of community, Colby-Sawyer College has unlimited potential. I can't wait to get to work with these dedicated student-athletes."
Locke will officially take the reins on August 8th.
