STANDISH, Maine – October 1, 2021- The Colby-Sawyer women's swimming team opened their season with a 139-104 victory over the Monks of St. Joseph's College of Maine, on Friday afternoon.Â

Kelsey Brown (Douglas, Mass.), and junior
Nina Boudreau (Hallowell, Maine) started the afternoon off with a win in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 2:01.27.

From there, junior
Quinn Manion (Wesminister, Mass.) placed second in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 14:46.63.

Steward earned the second win for the Chargers in the 50 Breaststroke with a time of 35.00. Brown chimed in with a finishing time of 59.90 in the 100 Butterfly for the third win of the evening.Â

Lauren Berry (Dracut, Mass.) earned individual victories in the 100 Backstroke and Breaststroke events respectively.Â

Boudreau and sophomore
Julianna DeGray (Chicopee, Mass.) secured the top two spots in the 50 Butterfly
,and were followed in the next event by Steward, junior
Alyssa Brown (Douglas, Mass.) and Berry as they swept the top three positions in the 100 IM.Â

The women earned a total of 139 points opposed the Monks 104, taking their first win of the season.Â
The Chargers dive back into the pool on Saturday, October 9
th at Keene State.Â
