Chargers Celebrate Senior Day with 64-46 Win over Fisher

NEW LONDON, N.H. – February 15, 2020 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's basketball team earned a 64-46 non-conference victory over Fisher College on Saturday afternoon.

Prior to the game, Colby-Sawyer honored seniors Kristen Donaghey (Franklin, Mass.), Lexie Hamilton (Sunapee, N.H.) and Tianna Sugars (Oxford, Maine).

Colby-Sawyer improves to 16-7. The Chargers will conclude Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season next week with road games at Suffolk and the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.). Fisher ends its season at 16-13.

Hamilton came up one assist shy of her third triple-double of the season. She finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists to lead the Chargers. Junior Joslin Wainwright (Plainfield, N.H.) was 7-of-12 for 14 points and eight rebounds. Sugars and first-year Sydney Noyes (Newbury, Mass.) chipped in with eight points apiece. Donaghey tallied seven points and three steals.

Fisher received 14 points from Shaniah Hazard (Providence, R.I.). She also grabbed a team best eight rebounds. Sophomore Misha O'Neal (Tampa, Fla.) and senior Jenny-Lynn Eggers (Sonoma, Calif.) added eight points apiece.

The Chargers raced out to a 6-0 lead in the first three minutes of the contest. Midway through the frame, the Colby-Sawyer advantage was 12-2 after a Noelle Barrett (South Berwick, Maine) free throw. The Chargers continued to hold a comfortable lead throughout the quarter thanks to holding Fisher to 4-of-19 shooting from the field. Colby-Sawyer shot 61.5% from the floor in the first and was led by Hamilton's seven points.

The second quarter saw each team take 13 shots. Colby-Sawyer made five, while Fisher connected on four. The Chargers increased their lead by winning the frame 14-11 to head into halftime on top 37-20. Five Chargers scored in the stanza led by four points from Hamilton and Noyes. Hazard had seven points after 20 minutes to lead the Falcons.

Colby-Sawyer held Fisher to just one field goal in the third quarter to push the lead to 55-27 after 30 minutes.

The Falcons were able to chip away a bit in the fourth quarter with eight made field goals, but Colby-Sawyer had built a big enough cushion in the third to come away with a comfortable 64-46 victory.

Colby-Sawyer outrebounded Fisher 44-30 and had a 32-20 margin in points in the paint.
