NASHUA, N.H. - January 21, 2020 - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team used a balanced attack to roll to a 69-54 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) road win at Rivier.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 11-5 overall and 1-2 in the GNAC. The Chargers host Johnson & Wales on Saturday at 1 p.m. Rivier falls to 4-11 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
Senior
Tianna Sugars (Oxford, Maine) led the Chargers with her 11th double-double of the season. She tallied 16 points and 14 rebounds. Sugars climbed into seventh on the all-time scoring list with 1,225 points and fifth in career rebounds with 852. Senior
Lexie Hamilton (Sunapee, N.H.) flirted with a triple-double as she finished with seven points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists. First-years
Caitlyn Boucher (Swanzey, N.H.) and
Sydney Noyes (Newbury, Mass.) contributed 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Rivier received a game-high 18 points from Cydney Lessard. Alexandra Grumblatt grabbed more than half of the team's rebounds to finish with an impressive 23 to go with 11 points. Heather Ries registered a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Joslin Wainwright (Plainfield, N.H.) opened the scoring for the Chargers and the teams would traded the first six buckets of the contest to make the score 6-6 after four minutes. Sugars then hit a trey to put the Chargers on top and they never looked back. Lessard hit a three of her own with a minute to play to pull the Raiders to within a point, but first-year
Emily Parent (Oakland, Maine) responded with a three to give Colby-Sawyer an 18-14 lead after the first stanza.
The Chargers created separation in the second and third quarters by outscoring Rivier 17-8 and 15-9 to lead 50-31 after 30 minutes. Rivier got a few points back in the fourth with a 23-19 advantage in the final frame.
Colby-Sawyer scored 42 points in the paint.
