Women's Soccer Drops Double OT Thriller at Elms

CHICOPEE, Mass. - September 7, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team was outlasted by Elms College in double overtime, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.

The Blazers improve to 2-2, while Colby-Sawyer drops to 2-2. The Chargers return home on Wednesday to host Plymouth State at 4:30 p.m.

After a scoreless first half, Colby-Sawyer first-year Sydney Jimmo (Shelburne, Vt.) scored her team leading fourth goal of the season in the 70th minute to put the Chargers on top 1-0.

Elms knotted the match less than two minutes later when Sydney Goodwin found the back of the net off a pass from Haley Richard.

Neither team could end the match in the first overtime, but Elaina Vilar struck for the game-winner with less than four minutes to play to send Elms home with the 2-1 double overtime victory.

The match was evenly played throughout and each team finished with 11 shots.

Colby-Sawyer keeper Sam Mitchell (Chester, N.H.) made seven saves, while Elms goalie Rebecca Molin also registered seven stops.
