NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 4, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's soccer team dropped a non-conference match to Southern Maine, 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon. The match was delayed an hour due to lightning.
Southern Maine improves to 2-0 and will host UMaine-Farmington on Saturday at 1 p.m. Colby-Sawyer suffers its first loss to drop to 2-1. The Chargers travel to Elms on Saturday for a noon kickoff.
The visitors scored twice in the first and once in the second without allowing a Colby-Sawyer goal to earn their second straight clean sheet.
Junior Ciera Berthiaume (Windham, Maine) put the first goal across in the 10th minute and later assisted on Southern Maine's second goal off the foot of Alex Allain (Carmel, Maine), in the 34th minute.
The Huskies added a third goal late in the second half when Katie Lynch (Bellingham, Mass.) set up teammate Hayleigh Blanchard (Portland, Maine) with her first goal of the season.

Sydney Jimmo (Shelburne, Vt.) led the Chargers with five shots and two on target.
Southern Maine outshot Colby-Sawyer 20-16, while the Chargers held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Huskies keeper Kayla Gorman (Windham, Maine) got the win with seven saves in 87 minutes of work, while Chantel Gangnon (Biddeford, Maine) played the final three minutes. Colby-Sawyer senior goalie
