Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Edged by USJ, 1-0

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - September 28, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team was edged by the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), 1-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Saturday afternoon. 

USJ improves to 8-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Chargers drop to 3-7 overall and 1-3 in the GNAC. Colby-Sawyer will look to rebound on Wednesday at home against Rivier. 

After each team had several scoring chances just miss or turned away by the opposing goalkeeper, the lone goal of the match finally came in the 65th minute. USJ first-year forward Olivia Belcourt put one past the Colby-Sawyer keeper with her third goal of the season. Sophomore Rylee Snow (West Greenwich, R.I.) set up the play to get credit with the assist.

Lindsey Montminy earned the clean sheet with five saves for the Blue Jays. Sam Mitchell made three saves in the loss for the Chargers. 

Colby-Sawyer outshot USJ 17-11, while the Blue Jays held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
