NORTHFIELD, Vt. - September 25, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match at Norwich University on Wednesday evening.
The Cadets improve to 3-5 overall and 2-1 in the GNAC. Colby-Sawyer falls to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in conference action. The Chargers travel to the University of Saint Joseph on Saturday.
After a scoreless first half, Norwich scored a couple of goals midway through the second half. Mary-Kait Mace put the Cadets on top in the 54th minute and was followed by a goal from Kyra Schoenfeld in the 68th minute.
Colby-Sawyer cut the deficit in half in the 75th minute when
Thea Alberti knocked in a ball sent from the corner kick by
Molly MacLure.
Norwich would tack on an insurance goal with less than three minutes to play to secure the 3-1 victory.
Sam Mitchell had eight saves for Colby-Sawyer, while Kim Watt stopped six for the Cadets.
Norwich held a slight 16-14 edge in shots, while the Chargers had a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
