NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 21, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's soccer team scored twice in the first half to earn a 2-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over visiting Suffolk on Saturday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the GNAC. The Chargers travel to Norwich on Wednesday. Suffolk drops to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in conference action. The Rams travel to Anna Maria on Wednesday for a GNAC tilt with the AMCATS.
First-year
Sydney Jimmo (Shelburne, Vt.) gave the Chargers a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute with her team leading fifth goal of the season.
In the 38th minute, senior
Molly MacLure (Westford, Mass.) found the back of the net off a feed from first-year
Grace Walsh (Marstons Mills, Mass.). The goal was MacLure's first of the season.
Colby-Sawyer senior goalie
Sam Mitchell (Chester, N.H.) earned the clean sheet with five saves. Allison Rodrigues (North Andover, Mass.) made seven saves for Suffolk.
Suffolk held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks, while Colby-Sawyer outshot the Rams 16-11.
