Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men's Tennis Edged by Regis, 5-4

WESTON, Mass. – April 13, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team was edged by Regis College, 5-4, Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match at the Regis Tennis Center.

Regis improves to 7-10 overall and 1-2 in the GNAC. Colby-Sawyer drops to 6-9 overall and 2-2 in the conference. The Chargers will host Saint Anselm tomorrow afternoon.

The Pride won all three doubles contests, but needed extra points in two of them. At number two doubles, Owen Pelissier (Hingham, Mass.) and Sebastian Torres (San Juan, Puerto Rico) earned an 8-3 victory over Matt Burke and Erik Antonacci. The other two doubles matches were tied at 7-7, forcing a tiebreaker. First to win their tiebreaker was the number one doubles duo of Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) and Johnny Pallotta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) over Alex Wright and Julius Lowman, followed by a victory by the number three doubles team of Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) and Matt DaRosso (Yonkers, N.Y.) over Mike White and Matt Williamson

Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) cruised to a straight-set victory at number six singles (6-1, 6-1) to increase the Regis advantage to 4-0. Needing just one point to clinch the overall match, the Pride were forced to battle for that point, as Colby-Sawyer won straight-set matches behind strong play at the top flight from Alex Wright and at No. 3 by Julius Lowman

At the second flight, Torres won the first set, 6-3, but fell in the next two sets by the same score as the Chargers' Mike White brought his team within one points at 4-3. However, in a hard-fought contest at number five singles, Mitchell Weiner (Plano, Texas) rallied from a first set defeat, winning the next two sets to defeat Antonacci with the match-clincher.

Matt Burke earned the Chargers' fourth point of the day with a three-set triumph over Charbonneau at No. 4.
